Marketing & communications resume examples
Marketing resumes are judged on channel fluency and on numbers, in that order. A marketing manager reading your resume wants to know which channels you have actually run, with what budget, and what moved. Name the channels in the same words the field uses: paid search, paid social, SEO, email, lifecycle, content, events, partnerships, PR. Then attach the metric each one lives on. Paid channels report cost per acquisition and return on ad spend. Email reports open rate, click rate and revenue per send. SEO reports organic sessions and rankings for named terms. Communications reports placements, reach and message pull-through.
The most convincing bullets follow one shape: the campaign, the channel, the budget, the result. Launched a paid social campaign for a product line, managed a monthly budget, and cut cost per lead by a stated share against the previous quarter. Write the budget and the audience size, because they tell the reader the scale you have operated at, and scale is what separates a coordinator from a manager on paper.
Tools carry weight in screening. HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Semrush or Ahrefs, Mailchimp or Klaviyo, Hootsuite or Sprout Social, a content management system, a customer data platform. List the ones you have run yourself, and place each one next to the channel and the result it drove. For communications roles, name the media relationships and the crisis or launch work in terms of outlets, placements and timelines.
Include a link to a portfolio or writing samples in the header when the role involves content, brand or PR, and name one piece in the summary. Keep the summary to two lines stating your specialty and the sectors you have marketed in. A general marketer who claims every channel reads as a junior one. A marketer who names two channels, two tools and two results reads as someone who has done the work.

Questions about marketing & communications resumes
What metrics belong on a marketing resume when I did not own the budget?
Report the metrics you influenced and say what your part was. A coordinator who built the email calendar and wrote the subject lines can report open and click rates for those sends. Name the campaign and the number, and let the title show the level. Claiming ownership of a budget you did not control is easy to check in an interview.
How do I present a communications or PR background for a marketing role?
Translate outputs into marketing terms without dropping the PR specifics. Placements become earned media with reach and outlet tier. Press launches become campaigns with timelines and coverage counts. Messaging work becomes positioning. Keep the outlet names. They are the credential in this field.
Should I list certifications such as Google Ads or HubSpot?
Yes, in a short certifications line, when the posting mentions the platform. They matter most early in a career and for agency roles that bill on platform expertise. Later, results on those platforms matter more than the certificate, so keep the line short and let the bullets carry the proof.
