Mobile app developer resume examples & writing guide for 2026

Three mobile app developer resumes, from junior iOS engineer to staff lead across iOS and Android, rendered in a real template and annotated line by line. Each counts what a hiring manager reads first: platform, users, crash-free sessions, cold start, app size and release cadence.

What makes this resume work

Each marker on the page has a note here. Press a marker to jump to its note.

  1. 1

Domain and build work in view

iOS engineer, telehealth app, Swift, SwiftUI and modular builds. Senior iOS postings ask for architecture and build speed as well as features, so the headline names both.

  2. 2

A flow owned with its users

The video visit flow for 1.2M monthly users on a weekly release train. Owning a flow end to end, with phased rollouts, is the scope a mid-level mobile hire is expected to carry.

  3. 3

    Stability with the method

Crash-free sessions from 99.2% to 99.86%, with the leaks and data races that caused the crashes. Naming the cause shows the engineer found it rather than waited for it to go away.

  4. 4

    A migration with a payoff

Forty-six UIKit screens moved to SwiftUI, and new screens delivered in four days instead of nine. A migration earns its place on a resume when it changes how fast the team ships.

  5. 5

Build time for the whole team

Fourteen Swift packages cutting clean builds from 11 minutes to 4 for 12 engineers. Mobile foundations postings ask for build and compile improvements because they compound across every engineer.

03The same resume at three levels

The tinted row is the level shown above.

  • Entry-level

    0–2 years

The degree leads, then two years in four counted bullets: a SwiftUI screen with its delivery volume and VoiceOver support, cold start halved on real devices, crash-free sessions raised, and checkout tests with coverage. The internship and part-time year keep one line, and a shipped App Store project shows the full release path.

Typical titles: iOS engineer, Junior iOS developer, Software engineer I, iOS

  • Mid-level

    3–6 years

The default view. Six years of iOS work in the units a mobile lead weighs: a flow owned with its monthly users and release train, crash-free sessions raised with the cause, a SwiftUI migration with its delivery payoff, a modular build that saves the team time, and offline sync with failed bookings ended.

Typical titles: iOS engineer, Senior iOS developer, Mobile software engineer

  • Senior

    7+ years

Leadership replaces feature work: nine engineers across both stores with their ratings, shared Kotlin Multiplatform logic with the lines it removed, ANR rate and app size cut together, weekly releases with staged rollouts, and engineers promoted. The iOS years keep one line each with their best numbers.

Typical titles: Staff mobile engineer, Mobile tech lead, Principal mobile engineer

04Summary

Weak

Passionate mobile developer with experience building high-quality iOS and Android applications, strong problem-solving skills and a love of clean code.

Strong

iOS engineer with six years in grocery delivery and telehealth, owning the visit flow of an app with 1.2M monthly users on a weekly release train. Raised crash-free sessions to 99.86% and moved 46 screens to SwiftUI.

A mobile hiring manager reads platform, scale and stability before anything else. The strong version gives the platform, the monthly users, the release cadence and a crash-free rate they can compare with their own app. The weak version fits any developer.

05Bullets

Weak

  • Improved app performance and stability, reducing crashes and making the app faster for users.

Strong

  • Increased crash-free sessions from 99.2% to 99.86% in 2025 by fixing memory leaks and data races found with Xcode Instruments.

Modifying existing software to correct errors and improve performance is a core task for software developers, and on mobile it is measured in crash-free sessions. The strong bullet names that metric with a before and an after, the causes that were fixed, and the tool that found them. A reviewer can ask about any part of it in an interview, while the weak bullet gives nothing to ask about.

07Mistakes to avoid

  1. A percentage with no metric named

Fix: Sample resumes say load times fell or engagement rose by some percentage without naming what was measured. Name the metric and give both ends: cold start in seconds on which devices, crash-free sessions before and after, app size in megabytes, and the tool that measured it.

  2. No stability numbers at all

Fix: Stability postings ask for engineers who find and fix crashes, ANRs, memory leaks and dropped frames, and Google Play lowers the visibility of apps that cross its stability thresholds. Give your crash-free session rate or ANR rate, before and after, even if the change was small.

  3. The platform left ambiguous

Fix: Most mobile postings name one platform and its UI framework: Swift and SwiftUI, or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Put yours in the headline. If you work on both, say which you lead on and which you contribute to, so the reader does not have to guess from the skills line.

  4. The release process missing

Fix: A mobile bug can live on in old app versions for months, which is why mobile teams build careful release trains. Say how often you shipped, whether you used phased or staged rollouts, and what you automated, such as signing, store submission or release checks.

  5. Cross-platform work oversold

Fix: This year's postings include rewrites from React Native back to native Swift and Kotlin as well as shared-code projects. Say exactly what was shared and what stayed native, and in which framework, so a native team and a cross-platform team can both judge the fit.

08Format and template

One column and one page, in the order summary, experience, projects, education, skills. Put the platform and the UI framework in the headline, and keep users, crash-free sessions, cold start and app size as text in the bullets. Link to a live store listing or a public repository for any project you list, and drop older roles to one line before the page runs over.

09Questions mobile app developers ask

Should I specialize in iOS or Android, or go cross-platform?

Most hiring is still native and per platform. In O*NET's count of 2025 postings for software developers, Google Android and Apple iOS each appear in 2 percent and Swift in 1 percent, while JavaScript appears in 20 percent and React in 13, which reflects how much web work the occupation covers. Specialize in one platform first, then add the second or a shared-code tool once you lead features.

Which numbers matter most on a mobile developer resume?

The ones mobile teams already report: crash-free sessions or crash rate, ANR rate on Android, cold start time, app size, monthly users and release cadence. Determining system performance standards is a listed task for software developers, and on mobile those standards are these numbers. Give each with a before and an after, as all three examples do, and say which devices you measured on.

How much do mobile app developers make?

The handbook counts mobile developers with software developers, whose May 2025 median was $135,980, with the lowest tenth under $82,460 and the highest tenth over $214,670. Industry moves it: software publishers paid a median $164,550, finance and insurance $135,460 and computer systems design $132,050. Mobile pay inside a company usually tracks its other software engineering roles.

Are Apple's Swift certifications worth listing?

For a student or a career changer, they can be. CareerOneStop lists 75 certifications for software developers, including Apple's App Development with Swift Associate and Certified User. Their exam provider describes them as preparing candidates for further study and careers in app development, so they signal a start, not experience. Past your first job, a shipped app and its numbers say more.

Do I need an app in the App Store to get hired?

Not strictly, but it helps a junior candidate more than anything else. O*NET's respondents say 85 percent of new hires need a bachelor's degree, so the degree gets you read. A shipped app shows the rest: signing, store review, crash reporting and real users. List it as a project with its downloads or rating and a link, as the entry example does.
