Real estate agent resume examples & writing guide for 2026

Three agent resumes at new, established and team-lead level, each rendered in the template the page names and pulled apart note by note. Every one leads with the license and the production a managing broker can look up.

What makes this resume work

Each marker on the page has a note here. Press a marker to jump to its note.

  1. 1

    Sides split into listings

Twenty-nine sides, nineteen of them listings. Listing agents and buyer agents run different businesses, and the split tells a broker which one is walking through the door.

  2. 2

    Listing results against the market

Ninety-nine percent of list in fourteen days, where the market is at ninety-six and twenty-eight. A ratio alone is meaningless in a hot market. Against the local average it becomes a claim.

  3. 3

    Appointments taken and signed

Forty-one taken, thirty-one signed. The conversion rate on listing appointments is the number that predicts next year's production, and it is the one a team lead will ask for.

  4. 4

Referral share beside the ad spend

Sixty-two percent repeat and referral, on nine thousand four hundred dollars of purchased leads. An agent who buys their pipeline and one who owns it are worth different money to a brokerage.

  5. 5

    Renegotiations with nothing collapsed

Fourteen contracts reworked after inspection, a hundred and eighteen thousand saved, no deal lost. Holding a deal together after a bad report is the part of the job clients remember.

  6. 6

    First brokerage, two lines

The early years keep production and the analyses that fed the team's appointments. The current listing practice is what the reader is deciding on, so that is where the page spends itself.

03The same resume at three levels

The tinted row is the level shown above.

  • Entry-level

    0–2 years

The license block sits in the sidebar at eye level rather than at the foot of the page. The headline gives sides and volume, the first bullet adds ratio and days on market, and the rest carry conversion rather than activity. The pre-license year stays because it is where the database and the process came from.

Typical titles: Real estate agent, Real estate salesperson, Buyer's agent

  • Mid-level

    3–6 years

The headline splits sides into listings. The summary sets the listing results against the local market rather than quoting them alone. The bullets carry appointment conversion, the share of business that came without paid leads, and renegotiations that held. The first brokerage keeps two lines.

Typical titles: Real estate agent, Listing specialist, Realtor

  • Senior

    7+ years

Scope moves from a personal book to a team: agents led, sides and volume together, listing share in named areas, a pricing model the team ran, a database with a contact plan, and a compliance change adopted by everyone. The solo years keep one line.

Typical titles: Lead agent, Team lead, Associate broker

04Summary

Weak

Motivated and client-focused real estate professional with a passion for helping families find their dream home and a reputation for exceptional service and integrity.

Strong

South Carolina agent with six years in resale, closing 29 sides for $11.4M last year at an average price of $393,000. Listings sold at 99% of list in 14 days, against a market running at 96% and 28 days.

State, years, sides, volume, average price, and the listing results set against the local market. A managing broker can decide whether to call in about six seconds. The weak version helps families find dream homes, which is what every agent in the state would say, and it gives a reader nothing to verify.

05Bullets

Weak

  • Guided buyers and sellers through the transaction process, providing exceptional service and building lasting relationships throughout the local market.

Strong

  • Took 41 listing appointments and signed 31, using a pricing model built from 3 years of local sold data.

Appointments taken, appointments won, and the thing that won them. Listing conversion is the number that predicts next year, and a team lead will ask for it in the first call. The weak bullet guides buyers and sellers through the process, which is the definition of the job rather than a record of doing it well.

07Mistakes to avoid

  1. License status missing or buried at the bottom

Fix: Every state licenses this job and licenses do not travel between states. Put the state, the issuing commission and the words active and in good standing under the summary. Leave the number off. A broker who cannot find the license assumes there is a problem with it.

  2. Volume given without sides, or sides without volume

Fix: One number can be carried by a single large sale, and the other says nothing about price point. Give both, for a named year, plus the average sale price. A broker is working out which price band you operate in and whether the production repeats.

  3. List-to-sale ratio and days on market quoted with no market average

Fix: In a fast market almost everyone sells near list quickly. The comparison is what makes the number a claim rather than a weather report. Put your figure next to the local average for the same period and the same property type.

  4. No indication of where the business came from

Fix: Repeat and referral business, purchased leads, open houses, farming and team-provided leads are worth very different amounts to a brokerage. State the mix and the money you spent on it. An agent who owns their pipeline is a different hire from one who rents it.

  5. Nothing about written buyer agreements or compliance

Fix: Buyer representation is now papered before a showing and compensation is negotiated rather than published. Say how you run it, what you disclose and when. A managing broker carries the liability for how you practice, so this is the paragraph they read most carefully.

08Format and template

One page, production in the top third, and a credentials block directly under the summary holding the state license and any designations. Keep the license number off the page and write the status in words. Numbers belong in the text where a parser can read them rather than in a chart. This example uses Brown Sidebar. The same content works in Standard, Beige Two Column and Warm Classic.

09Questions real estate agents ask

What numbers belong on a real estate agent resume?

Closed sides and volume for a named year, average sale price, list-to-sale ratio and days on market with the local averages beside them, listing appointments taken and signed, and the share of business from repeat clients and referrals. If you lead a team, give the agent count and the team's totals separately from your own. Anything a managing broker can check in the MLS is worth stating, because they will check it.

How do I put my license on the resume?

In a credentials block under the summary: the state, the issuing commission, and active and in good standing. Leave the license number off a document you email to strangers, since status is public and the number adds nothing. If you hold licenses in two states, list both, because they are rarely transferable and a broker working a border market cares. Add designations underneath, not in the headline.

What should a brand-new agent put on the page?

What you have actually done, in units. Open houses hosted and registrations captured, comparative market analyses run, buyers taken through written agreements, inquiries answered and appointments booked, hours of prelicensing and the exam passed on the first attempt. Any prior job that involved selling, negotiating or coordinating paperwork belongs there too. Zero sides is fine in a first year. An empty page is not.

Should I list the brokerages I have worked at?

Yes, with dates, because a managing broker will verify them and gaps invite questions. Independent contractor status does not change this: name the brokerage that held your license, the years, and your production under it. If you moved often, group the short stops and explain the pattern in one line rather than leaving the reader to guess at a problem that may not exist.

Do designations like ABR, GRI or CRS help?

They help a little and they cost real money, so treat them as supporting evidence rather than as the argument. The federal listing shows twenty certifications from eight organizations for this occupation, most of them trade designations. A broker reads production first and designations second. Where they earn their place is a niche: relocation, luxury, seniors or investment property, matched to the desk you are applying for.

How long should a real estate agent resume be?

One page. Eleven years fits once earlier brokerages shrink to a line holding sides, volume and the list-to-sale ratio. Cut the personal branding statement first, then the list of portals and platforms, then anything about passion for helping families. What survives is the license, the production, the source of the business and the compliance record, which is the whole of the interview.
